Facial Aesthetics NI
OVERVIEW
Facial Aesthetics NI is an award-winning private aesthetic medicine clinic located on the Malone Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, specialising in botulinum toxin anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, lip augmentation, skin bio-remodelling, and non-surgical facial contouring, and is one of only a handful of clinics in Ireland whose principal practitioner holds Gold Level Membership of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics (IAAFA) — recognised as Northern Ireland's premier non-surgical anti-ageing clinic. The clinic was founded and is led exclusively by Clinical Director Dr David Buchanan BDS, MFGDP(UK) RCS Eng — a graduate of the University of Glasgow who attained Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (MFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006, becoming one of the youngest dentists ever to hold the qualification, and who subsequently joined the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group in 2007, carrying out clinics across Harley Street in London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Belfast over a six-year period before establishing Facial Aesthetics NI. All clinicians are registered with the General Dental Council, Dr Buchanan has received industry awards including Enhancement Specialist of the Year, and free consultations are available for every treatment at the clinic, which serves patients across Belfast and Northern Ireland from its premises at 146 Malone Road, Belfast, BT9 5LH.
Facial Aesthetics NI's treatment portfolio spans anti-wrinkle injectables, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers — primarily Juvederm and Restylane — skin bio-remodelling with Profhilo and Sunekos, and advanced facial contouring procedures including non-surgical rhinoplasty and the 8-Point Facelift. Specialist treatment variants include Barbie Botox targeting the trapezius muscles, Baby Botox for subtler natural-looking results, the lip flip technique using the orbicularis oris muscle, and botulinum toxin treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). All treatments stimulate the skin's natural production of collagen and elastin where appropriate, and every consultation and procedure is personally carried out by Dr Buchanan from initial assessment through to aftercare.
Facial Aesthetics NI holds Gold Level Membership of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics (IAAFA) — an organisation dedicated to raising public understanding of facial aesthetics — and Dr Buchanan has administered tens of thousands of injectable treatments over his career, making him one of the most experienced aesthetic practitioners in Northern Ireland. The clinic has been offering Profhilo in Belfast for over six years and operates a confidential telephone line from its premises on the Malone Road in South Belfast.

Clinical Director
- Dr David Buchanan BDS, MFGDP(UK) RCS Eng: Dr David Buchanan is the founder and Clinical Director of Facial Aesthetics NI. He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2004 and has worked in dental practice in both Scotland and Ireland for over 20 years. He attained Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (MFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006, becoming one of the youngest dentists ever to attain the qualification at that time. He subsequently became a Postgraduate Tutor in Belfast for the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) postgraduate examination, a position he held for two years, mentoring and guiding qualified dentists through the process. In 2007 he joined the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, gaining extensive experience treating a wide variety of patients and carrying out clinics on Harley Street in London, and in Glasgow, Manchester, and Belfast over a six-year period. Treatments administered during this period included botulinum toxin injections — including Botox for men — lip augmentation, cheek enhancements, chemical peels, dermaroller, and hyperhidrosis treatments. Dr Buchanan has administered tens of thousands of injectable aesthetic treatments over the course of his career and has been providing facial aesthetic treatments for over 17 years, making him one of the most experienced aesthetic practitioners in Northern Ireland. He has a particular interest in wrinkle-smoothing treatments to correct frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet, as well as more complex lines around the mouth and neck, and uses dermal fillers including Juvederm and Restylane regularly for lip and cheek enhancement and fine line removal. He has been offering Profhilo in Belfast for over six years. He is one of only a handful of practitioners in Ireland to hold Gold Level Membership of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics (IAAFA) and has received several industry awards including Enhancement Specialist of the Year.
SERVICES
Facial Aesthetics NI offers a comprehensive range of non-surgical facial aesthetic treatments, all carried out exclusively by Dr David Buchanan. Free consultations are offered for every treatment and all services are competitively priced.
Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
- Botox (Anti-Wrinkle Injections): Botox anti-wrinkle injections at Facial Aesthetics NI use botulinum toxin to temporarily relax specific facial muscles and reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and fine lines. Areas commonly treated include the forehead, frown lines, and crow's feet, as well as more complex lines around the mouth and neck. The initial appointment includes a confidential consultation, a medical questionnaire and consent form, and a photographic record of the areas to be treated. A follow-up appointment is made 14 days after treatment to assess results and administer a top-up if required. Results typically last three to four months.
- Barbie Botox: Barbie Botox is a specialised botulinum toxin treatment at Facial Aesthetics NI that targets the trapezius muscles in the neck and shoulders to create a more elongated, graceful neck and a slimmer shoulder profile. The treatment is inspired by the iconic Barbie doll silhouette and has grown significantly in popularity as a non-surgical body contouring option.
- Baby Botox: Baby Botox is a variation of traditional anti-wrinkle treatment available at Facial Aesthetics NI, using smaller, more precise doses of botulinum toxin to achieve a subtler, more natural-looking reduction in fine lines and wrinkles while preserving fuller facial movement and expression. It is particularly popular with younger patients seeking a preventative approach to facial ageing.
- Lip Flip: The lip flip is a non-surgical treatment at Facial Aesthetics NI using a small amount of botulinum toxin injected into the orbicularis oris muscle around the upper lip. This causes the lip to relax and gently roll upward, creating the appearance of a fuller, more defined upper lip without the addition of dermal filler — a subtle, minimally invasive alternative to lip filler for suitable patients.
- Botox for Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis): Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis is available at Facial Aesthetics NI to address excessive sweating in the underarms, hands, or feet. Botulinum toxin is injected into the affected area to temporarily block the nerve signals responsible for stimulating the sweat glands. Results typically last six to twelve months and can significantly improve quality of life for patients affected by the condition.
- Botox for Men: Facial Aesthetics NI provides botulinum toxin anti-wrinkle treatments specifically tailored for male patients, using techniques appropriate to male facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. Male-specific treatment aims to soften lines and wrinkles while preserving a natural, masculine facial appearance, with techniques reflecting the differing muscle mass and movement patterns of male faces.
Dermal Fillers
- Dermal Fillers: Dermal filler treatments at Facial Aesthetics NI use hyaluronic acid-based fillers — primarily Juvederm and Restylane, the two market-leading brands — to restore volume, smooth static wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Fillers are used to treat nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and other areas of volume loss across the face, delivering a naturally refreshed and youthful appearance. Results typically last six to eighteen months.
- Lip Fillers: Lip filler treatment at Facial Aesthetics NI uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to enhance the size, shape, and definition of the lips. Dr Buchanan has been providing lip augmentation treatments for over 15 years, delivering natural-looking results that complement the patient's individual facial features. Results are near-instantaneous and typically last six to twelve months.
- Tear Trough Fillers: Tear trough filler treatment is available at Facial Aesthetics NI to address the hollow or dark circles that develop beneath the eyes as a result of volume loss and skin thinning with age. Hyaluronic acid filler is carefully injected into the tear trough area to smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek, reducing the appearance of shadows and tiredness.
- Cheek Fillers: Cheek filler treatment at Facial Aesthetics NI restores lost volume to the cheeks and midface, enhancing cheekbone definition and lifting the lower face. Juvederm or Restylane hyaluronic acid fillers are used, with results typically lasting twelve to eighteen months.
- Jawline Fillers: Jawline filler treatment at Facial Aesthetics NI uses hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers to enhance the contour and definition of the jawline, improving facial symmetry and balance. The procedure is minimally invasive and delivers immediate results with minimal downtime. Treatment typically takes thirty to sixty minutes.
- Smokers Lines Treatment: Treatment for smokers lines — the fine vertical lines that form around the mouth as a result of repeated lip pursing, ageing, and collagen breakdown — is available at Facial Aesthetics NI. Dr Buchanan typically uses advanced dermal fillers, Botox, or a combination of both depending on the depth of the lines and the extent of puckering around the mouth.
Skin Rejuvenation
- Profhilo: Profhilo is a bio-remodelling treatment available at Facial Aesthetics NI that works to tighten and rejuvenate the skin rather than adding volume like conventional dermal fillers. It uses a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to stimulate the production of four different types of collagen and elastin, improving skin laxity, tone, texture, hydration, and vibrancy from within. Dr Buchanan uses the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) injection technique, injecting five points on each side of the face, and has been offering Profhilo in Belfast for over six years. It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, hands, upper arms, and above the knees.
- Sunekos: Sunekos is an injectable treatment at Facial Aesthetics NI that combines hyaluronic acid with a patented formula of amino acids to regenerate the extracellular matrix of the skin, stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin. It is particularly effective for improving skin quality, reducing fine lines, and restoring a healthy, youthful glow, and can be used on the face, neck, hands, and around the eyes.
Facial Contouring
- Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty: Non-surgical rhinoplasty — also known as a non-surgical nose job — is available at Facial Aesthetics NI as a non-invasive alternative to surgical nose reshaping. Using precisely placed dermal filler injections, Dr Buchanan can smooth bumps, refine the nasal tip, improve symmetry, and create a more aesthetically balanced nose profile, without surgery, anaesthesia, or recovery time. Results are immediate and typically last twelve to eighteen months.
- 8-Point Facelift: The 8-Point Facelift is a comprehensive non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure at Facial Aesthetics NI, using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers injected at eight strategic points across the face to lift, volumise, and rejuvenate the skin. The treatment targets the mid and lower face to restore volume, counter sagging skin, and enhance facial contours, delivering a more youthful and harmonious appearance without surgery or significant downtime. It is a more comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation than the 5-Point or 6-Point Facelift.
